Slowing Down

This last week has slowed down some. I havent had as many test or homework to do. I have been relaxing some and working on some homework i have due in the future. I know that coming up i am going to be busy again beause i will have more test and homework. I am still driving back and froth to school but it is easier when i dont have a big test that day. I was feeling pushed to the limit on driving  last thursday because i had an orientation at the hospital and than had to drive to school. I was pushing my time limit because i only had a half hour to get from one place to the next. but the rest of the week went slower and i enjoyed it.

Fall Break.

This past weekend was fall break. I didnt do a whole lot. I just tried to catch up on some relax time and some studying i needed to do. I watched some movies. I now have 2 favorite movies. The Proposal and Ghost of Girlfriends past. I also read a couple of books that i needed for my genetics class term paper. I have a 20 page paper on 4 topics to write in the next 2 weeks. So i thought i better get started on it. Over all i had a good break Just relaxing and doing litte work.

This Week.

This week i havent been as busy as i have been the last couple of weeks. I have had time to relax and take time out for myself. This past weekend was the county fair in my home town of Choshocton. I went to the fair 2 days and ate all the bad but wonderful food i could consume.  Other than eat the food, I just walked around and watched kids on the rides, watched some of the animals, and walked through the buildings.

It amazes me how much i have changed my opinion about the fair as i have gotten older. When i was younger i would beg mymother to take me to the fair everyday to ride rides and eat. I never got tired of it and never thought the day would come when i did get tired and bored with the fair. That day has come. There is only so much of the fair you can take once you get older. I know just 3-4 years ago i still wanted to go to the fair more than i do now. But the reason for going had changed since i was younger. When i was a little girl i wanted to go to ride the rides, about 4 years ago all i wanted to go for was to hang out with my friends and maybe ride a few bigger rides. But now after one day of the fair i get bored. I see everything in one day and eat all i can. I dont really see the point in paying $8 to get in just to walk off all the food that i am consuming.

Busy Week

Last week, last weekend, and the begining of this week have have felt like i have more things to do than i have time for. I have a big genetics test coming up and i have been trying to study, but i hardly had time because i was doing some family things all weekend. I also have a 2-3 page paper to turn in on the same day as my genetics test. I am thankful that the paper is a group project. Also at the end of the week i have a nutrition test and a history test. Like i told you last week i drive back in forth to school  and i have to fit that in my schedule too. I am defiently feeling the effects of everything. I feel like i just need to slow down, but i know i cant because i have too much to do.

On the Go

This year I started transfered to a new college. I decided to commute. I live about 33 mile away from the school I transfered to. It takes me almost 40 minutes to get to school. I didnt think that it would be that bad, but i have come to realize in the 4 weeks of commuting that it is alot of drive time. I feel like I am always on the go and that I hardly have time to just relax. I am either driving in my car, Studying, or reading. By the end of the day I am exhausted.

While I am driving back and forth to school I am trying to find time to spend with my friends and family. My weekends have been busy just trying to catch up on homework and readings. I hope that it will get easier, but I have a feeling that this will only get worst. As the quarter goes on, Than the more homework and studing Iwill have to do.

I am hoping that by the end of the quarter i will be able to get an apartment near the school that i am attending, that way i won’t have to drive so much. I have also realized that I use alot of gas driving back and forth.  Many people dont realize how much gas is used driving back and forth.

This Election

I may not be the smartest person in the world about politics and i dont know what everything means and who is the best person to vote for, but i am going to say a few things that i am feeling. I am not even registered to vote this year. I had many chances to register before classes or at our county fair, but i just never really took the time to stop and register. I am just really tired of hearing the canidates bash each other and seeing those commersals on tv ALL the time. It kinda irritates me when i hear people bash the canidates and not care about what others around them. How others feel and what their opinion is. Its kinda rude.  I think that everyone is intitled to their own opinion, but that is what it is THEIR OWN opinion and not everyone agrees with it. Just think before you start stating your opinion. Dont just focus on all the bad things that the canidates say about each other because it might not be true. It is really just hear say and before you go repeating things bad or good about one do research and find out if it is true. The election is rough. Everyone wants their canidate to win, so alot of things are said some are right some not so much. I am not trying to tell you who to vote for and who not to, so before you vote i would just like people to watch this video and think about what this country need. Which canidate would help this country and help the economy recover some.

English is Over…. What now!!!

Today was my last english 110 class. I started this weblog because it was one of the projects. Now that the class is over i think i still might use my weblog. I think i might use it to express my opinions and feelings. I have facebook and myspace, but i really don’t post much on there just a few pictures and i talk to my friends. I like this weblog because i can express my feelings and opinions. I think i will use this to talk about what is bothering me at the time or about a topic on the news at the time. My teacher has inspired me through this site and when i had to post things on his site to express myself and not worry about what other people think. I know that i like this site and i am going to continue to use it.

Editiorial….. Graffiti is Art!

As you drive through New York City there are many different things going on. As you look out your window and pass a parking lot on the corner of 29th and 8th avenue, which is the parking lot for the Madison Square Garden Park, you see a mural that someone painted on the side of a building. The mural is full of bright colors. You notice that the three main colors are red, white, and blue.  As you keep driving you see that the blue section, which is in the upper left corner of the painting, looks like an aeriol view of the city. It has two big buildings that are the tallest and they look like they are going to pop out of the picture. Throughout the rest of the mural you notice that the red and white is striped. This section of the picture has words and thoughts of people. As you get near the end of the mural, on the far right, you see a scroll with the words “United We Stand” above it. Written on the inside of the scroll is a note talking about how September 11, 2001 will never be forgotten and neither will the people who lost their lives on that day. The whole over view of the mural is a flag with a scroll and candle at the end. As you keep driving through the city you see many more pieces of artwork similar to this one. This kind of art is considered graffiti. Graffiti artists are like painters, they just use the side of a building as their canvas.  You may think that some are attractive pieces of art and that some pieces of graffiti are ugly and consider it to be vandalism. You may even think that all graffiti is vandalism.
I don’t think that all graffiti is considered vandalism. Graffiti shows up in many different places that one might not notice it is graffiti. Graffiti is now shown on commersals like the ECKO shoe comnersal. It starts out with someone drawing graffiti, than the graffiti created shows up on a pair of shoes. It is also in the art galleries. It shows up everywhere. Some graffiti is meant to make you think about what the artist is trying to say.  Many graffiti artist are trying to send the community a message through the graffiti they create. Like the mural described at the beginning, this artist is trying to keep the memory of what happened on that day in the minds of many people. It is like a monument to that day.  In some places companies are employing graffiti artist to produce graffiti on their products. This is used as a way to display their product to younger people, to the audience they are trying to sell their product to. Graffiti is now showing up on clothing, billboards, the sides of trucks, and in many more places.
There are some graffiti that is considered vandalism. I think that there is a fine line between vandalism and art. I think that when an artist just sprays names on the side of a building it really isn’t art. When one just writes something like JKH & MCL on the side of a building or under a bridge it is considered vandalism. Most of this type of graffiti is gang related.
Some graffiti can be done on public property without permission and it not be considered vandalism. The picture with the World Trade Center’s was done without permission, but it has not been removed yet. All the rest of the graffiti art around it was painted over with white paint. Some pieces of graffiti are sentimental pieces that the community likes and wants to keep around. I think that graffiti can be vandalism, but when it is created for a purpose and is something nice to the community than it should be considered art.

My Opinion!

Throughout the year we have done three projects in English. The Analytical Research project was real formal. I found it hard to use the sources to come up with my own ideas. My topic was graffiti. I argued that graffiti was both art and vandalism. The next project we did was called a Digital Composition. This pretty much is this weblog. I like it. It isn’t that formal and a lot of what my opinions are. There is not really a right or wrong. I like this project a lot. The last and final project we have done is an Editorial. I liked this project to. It was just some facts about graffiti to persuade someone it agree or disagree with what i was saying. I found this project to be easier than the research project. But the research project did help and reflected on my editorial. I feel like the digital project was the easiest and it is a lot of fun. I see how all the projects we have done and the order we did them in has helped my writing.

Op- Ed and The world Food Crisis

I think that i am going to like the Op Ed. I like to write persuasive papers. I like reading what other peoples opinions are.

The article about the world food crisis talks about how there are hundreds of millions of people were starving and malnurished last year.  Many of the farmers knew that the world was going to be in a food crisis for a while. The global system today has pressured farmers into producing cash crops for export and alternative fuels. Food banks in America are stuggling to meet the demands of the people being with out jobs or people who are layed off. But George W. Bush released $200 million in the UN’s world food problem in emergency aid. This article talks about how congress should embrace trade and develop policies that help developing counties regulate markets.
